wilD KIDZ ‘monSoon camp’

Thennan meiman gives trainng to draw elephant Presentation about butterflies Introduction about KMTR The ATREE’s Wild Kidz ‘Monsoon Camp’ was a three-day two-night residential camp, held at Mundanthurai, Kalakad-Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve (KMTR), organized by the Agasthyamalai Community Conservation Centre (ACCC), Manimutharu in association with Tamil Nadu Forest Department. This wild camp exposed 13 boys, 6 girls and 4 teachers of Muthamil Public School, Muneerpallam, Tirunelveli to the marvels of nature through lectures on line-drawings, uniqueness of KMTR, the morphology of plants and identification of the butterflies of KMTR. The camp helped the Muthamilaites to develop their outdoor skills through multiple activities such as a forest Hike, Road-kill Survey, Butterfly walk, and night watch, in which they have sighted many animals including Nilgiri Langur ( Semnopithecus johnii ), South Eastern Langur ( Semnopithecus priam ), Bonnet Macaque ( Macaca radiata ),

Green ‘Walk-Stop-Talk’

A group of 25 students of the various age group from Youth of Kodaganallur Endeavour (YOKE) Society, Kodaganallur participated in the Green ‘Walk-Stop-Talk’, a half-day hike organized by ATREE’s ACCC, Manimutharu at Mundanthurai on May 31, 2019, in collaboration with Kalakad-Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve. ATREE researchers guided the hike in the dry deciduous forest and explained the children about several biological phenomena especially mimicry, camouflage, pollination, parasitism, poop ‘a microhabitat’, self-defense mechanism, etc. through the sighted living things. They appreciated different life forms, whistling wind and indirect signs of animal movement in the sunny morning. Sighting of graceful Green-vine Snake ( Ahaetulla nasuta ), swarms of aestivating Millipedes ( Spinotarsus colosseus ) on trees, scrapes of Sloth Bear, Owlfly with large eyes, cluster of Harvestmen with long legs under a small culvert, tall woody climbers,
